The Center of Waste Management Indonesia (CWMI) has entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hai Duong International JSC to establish a forward-looking partnership focused on converting agricultural waste into high-value organic fertilizer, driving sustainable agriculture and global green growth.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Le Thanh Vuong, General Director of Hai Duong International JSC, and Dr. Eng. Bayu Indrawan, President Director of CWMI. This collaboration reflects a strong commitment to turn agricultural by-products into resources that not only benefit farmers but also contribute to a resilient and eco-friendly future.
Turning Waste into Value for a Sustainable Future
Indonesia’s agricultural sector produces abundant organic residues that often go underutilized. Through innovation and science-based solutions, these materials – including compost, agricultural by-products, and palm kernel cake – will be transformed into organic fertilizers that enrich the soil, increase productivity, and reduce reliance on chemicals.
“This MoU is more than a partnership,” said Dr. Bayu Indrawan. “It represents a vision to build a sustainable ecosystem where agricultural waste becomes a source of prosperity, farmers gain new opportunities, and Indonesia contributes meaningfully to global food security and climate action.”
Expanding Global Opportunities for Organic Fertilizer
A central focus of the partnership is the development of international markets for Indonesian organic fertilizers and agricultural by-products. By connecting local producers to global demand, CWMI and Hai Duong aim to position Indonesia as a leader in sustainable agricultural inputs, strengthening both the local economy and global sustainability efforts.
Mr. Le Thanh Vuong noted: “This collaboration opens tremendous opportunities to bring Indonesia’s organic fertilizers to the global market, creating impact that supports farmers, communities, and the environment.”
Adding a technical perspective, Dr. Nguyen Thi Truc Linh, Technical Advisor of Hai Duong International JSC, remarked: “Indonesia holds vast potential in agricultural by-products. With the right processing, they can become world-class organic fertilizers that improve soil health, empower farmers, and meet international sustainability standards.”
A Five-Year Strategic Roadmap
The MoU is set for five years, with opportunities for extension, ensuring continuity and long-term impact. The collaboration will focus on advancing waste-to-resource innovation, organic fertilizer excellence, and international market expansion, positioning Indonesia at the forefront of sustainable agriculture.
Through this MoU, CWMI strengthens its role as a catalyst for change – turning agricultural waste into opportunity, advancing a circular economy, and showcasing Indonesia’s agricultural potential to the world.
